In a notable move, the Ministry of Railways has approved an experimental stoppage for the Vande Bharat Express at Ghataprabha Railway Station in Belagavi, Karnataka. The decision follows persistent efforts by MP Iranna Kadadi, who requested the halt to improve accessibility for passengers in the region.
Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, formally approved the request in a letter dated November 28, 2024. The Vande Bharat Express, which connects key cities such as Pune, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Karad, Miraj, Belagavi, and Dharwad, will now offer convenient travel options to passengers at Ghataprabha.
The stop will initially be introduced on a trial basis, with its continuation dependent on ticket sales and passenger demand at the station.
Known for its modern amenities and high-speed travel, the Vande Bharat Express offers passengers a comfortable and efficient travel experience. Adding Ghataprabha as a stop is expected to significantly boost convenience for travelers in the Belagavi region.
This move is set to enhance connectivity for Ghataprabha and surrounding areas, providing better access to major cities along the train’s route. Local residents and travelers have welcomed the decision, which is anticipated to contribute to the region’s economic and social growth.
Passengers are encouraged to utilize this new stop, as its continuation will depend on the support and demand demonstrated through ticket bookings.
