PUNE: To ensure the smooth operation of the Pune-Howrah Azad Hind Express and Jhelum Express, the Pune Railway department has introduced an extra coach for both trains. Over the past five days, the trains have been running without any disruptions, much to the relief of the passengers.

As per the information provided, the Howrah-Pune Azad Hind Express and Jhelum Express hold significant importance in the Pune railway division. However, for the past three years, the Howrah-Pune Azad Hind Express has faced frequent disruptions, with occasional cancellations and consistent delays.

To address this issue, we began utilizing the rake of the ‘Jhelum Express’ for this train on July 30. Unfortunately, this adjustment adversely affected the schedule of the Jhelum Express, causing inconvenience to the passengers of both trains. Consequently, the Pune Railway Department received numerous complaints regarding these delays.

To rectify the situation and ensure smooth operations for both trains, the decision was made to provide an extra coach. As a result, starting from August 13, additional coaches were introduced for these two trains. These extra coaches will be allocated as required along the route.

Since the implementation of the additional coaches, the Jhelum Express has been running punctually since August 13. The Howrah Express also departed on time for two consecutive days. However, due to a blockage at Jalgaon, it experienced a slight delay for two days. Nevertheless, the train is expected to resume its punctuality in the coming days. The inclusion of an extra coach will greatly aid in ensuring timely departures for both trains.

While talking to Pune Pulse, Ramdas Bhise, Central Railway PRO, added, ‘’Trains are running on time after new rakes. Howrah express was running late due to maintenance work but this issue will be cleared in coming few days.’’
