Pune: Kondhwa Police Raid Illegal Hookah Parlour On NIBMÂ Road, Seize Tobacco And Other Items Worth Rs 23500
In a decisive operation, the Kondhwa Police cracked down on an illegal hookah parlour operating at The Village Hotel on NIBM Road. The raid, led by Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar and Police Inspector (Crime) Mansingh Patil, was part of an ongoing effort to curb unlawful activities in the area.
On the night of August 29, 2024, Assistant Police Inspector Amit Shete, along with a team of police enforcers, conducted patrols to identify and take action against illegal businesses within the jurisdiction of the Kondhwa Police Station. Acting on information provided by secret informants, the team learned that The Village Hotel was serving hookah to its customers without proper authorization.
During the raid, the police apprehended the hotel owner, Bakir Ramesh Bagwe, a 36-year-old resident of Bhavani Peth, Lohia Nagar, along with three others: Harun Nabi Shaikh (20), a native of West Bengal’s Nodia district, Bikram Sadhan Shaikh (20), and Anwar Mandal (22). The suspects were found to be illegally providing hookah services to customers at the establishment.
The raid resulted in the seizure of Rs 23,500 worth of tobacco hookah pods, nine glass hookah pots, and other related materials. The seized items have been taken into custody as evidence.
A case has been registered against the individuals involved under Section 4(a) 21(a) of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2018, at the Kondhwa Police Station. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) R. Raja, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wanwadi Division) Ashwini Rakh, Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar, and Police Inspector (Crime) Mansingh Patil.
The successful raid was executed by Assistant Police Inspector Amit Shete, along with Police Constables Akshay Shendge, Rahul Thorat, Suhas More, and Pradip Bediskar, following the guidance and instructions provided by the senior officers.
