Pune : Leopard attacks two men on motorcycle

Pune: A leopard attacked a bike rider and his son in Otur, Junnar while they were travelling on a motorcycle on September 14.

As per information, Pravin Dumbre was riding a two-wheeler along with his father on the Otur, Ahinvewadi, Tabular road on September 14 (Thursday) night when a leopard jumped on his bike. The leopard’s claw hit Laxman Dumbre on his hand, injuring him.

He was referred to Otur Primary Health Center for first aid and anti-rabies vaccination.

In another incident, a leopard caught a dog in the parking area in front of Pankaj Bhate’s row house in Om Sai Society on Tambemala Road in Otur town on Thursday around 3:15 a.m. Two dogs have been hunted by leopards from this area twice before.

The fear of leopards is increasing in Junnar and its surroundings and the citizens are expressing their displeasure regarding the management of the forest department.

Otur and its surrounding villages have already been declared as leopard-prone areas. Leopard sightings are common in this area. However, farmers are always seeing leopards in Tabari, Ahinvewadi Marg, Otur, Brahmanwada Marg, Phapale Shiwar, Gadhavpat, Ghule Pat and Dholwad Pardhi and other areas and there have been serious incidents of attacks on citizens along with pets and stray dogs.
