A 32-year-old man was arrested by Wakad police on Wednesday for allegedly killing his live-in partner and abandoning their three-year-old son.

According to the police, the man, who works as a supervisor with an AC maintenance firm, suspected his partner of having an affair and frequently demanding money from him. On the night of November 24, he allegedly bludgeoned her to death with a hammer on the service road at Wakad.

The man then drove the body to Khambatki Ghat in Satara district, approximately 130 km away, and dumped it. He returned to their flat, took their son to Alandi, and abandoned him there.

The police investigation revealed that the man had lodged a missing person’s complaint for his son, but did not mention his partner’s disappearance. It was only when the police found the woman’s body that the man’s alibi unraveled.

The man has been arrested on charges of murder, destruction of evidence, and giving false information. The police are investigating further into the case.
