Pune Metro Expansion: Khadakwasla-Kharadi and Nal Stop-Manikbagh Routes Approved by Maharashtra Government
Pune’s public transportation network is set to expand with the approval of two new metro routes by the Maharashtra government. The decision, made during a recent cabinet meeting by the MahaYuti government, aims to improve connectivity across key areas of the city.
The two newly sanctioned routes are:
- 1. Khadakwasla – Swargate – Hadapsar – Kharadi
- 2. Nal Stop – Dahanukar Colony – Warje – Manikbagh
These metro lines will cover crucial areas, offering greater accessibility and easing traffic congestion in Pune. The development comes as part of a broader effort to boost the city’s public transportation infrastructure, which has long been a challenge due to increasing population and urbanization.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, has been credited for this initiative. Local authorities and residents have welcomed the approval, recognizing its potential to improve commuting times and reduce reliance on private vehicles.
With these new routes, Pune’s metro system is expected to become a more viable option for daily commuters, contributing to the city’s growth and ease of travel. The project is seen as a significant step in empowering Pune’s transportation system.
