PUNE: In a recent occurrence that disrupted the Pune Metro service, a situation arose where the doors of a Metro train failed to open, leading to a state of panic among the passengers. This incident unfolded at Shivajinagar station during the evening hours.
Upon reaching out for clarification, Shravan Hardikar, the Managing Director of Maha Metro, informed that the doors remained locked due to a technical glitch.
He further stated that we are currently conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of this malfunction. Consequently, the train remained immobile for a duration of 10 minutes while commuters made desperate attempts to access the doors.
Advocate Sushl Mancharkar received a distressed call from a passenger reporting a fire and locked doors. However, according to Hardikar, there was no fire but the doors remained locked for a duration of 10 minutes. The doors had to be manually opened and corrective measures will be taken. The Metro service has faced power supply issues in three separate incidents within the last three months, causing disruptions for a minimum of 20 minutes.
