Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol Denies Involvement In Jain Boarding Land Controversy, Terms Claims Politically Driven
Pune: Ravindra Dhangekar Launches Indefinite Protest Over Controversial Jain Boarding Land Deal
Pune, October 19, 2025: Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation and Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol has denied allegations linking him to the controversial sale of the Jain Boarding House land in Shivajinagar. Mohol described the accusations made by farmer leader Raju Shetti and former MLA Ravindra Dhangekar as politically motivated and aimed at damaging his reputation.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Mohol asserted that the claims were an attempt to mislead the public. “I am not responding to Shetti or a particular Pune leader, but to the people of Pune who trust me and deserve clarity,” he said.
Clarifies Role in Gokhale Builders
Mohol explained his association with Gokhale Builders—the company that purchased the Jain Boarding House property—stating that he was involved in the construction business for nearly two decades, a fact disclosed in his Lok Sabha election affidavit. “I was a partner in two LLPs associated with Gokhale Builders, formed in 2022 and 2023, but I resigned from both on November 25, 2024. No financial transactions occurred during my tenure,” he said.
He added that the property’s trustees decided to transfer the land on December 16, 2024, and the sale was finalised on October 8, 2025—almost a year after his resignation. “The documents prove I had no involvement in this deal,” Mohol clarified.
Respect for Shetti, No Comment on Dhangekar
While expressing respect for Raju Shetti, Mohol remarked that Shetti should have verified the facts before levelling such serious allegations. However, he refrained from directly mentioning Ravindra Dhangekar, his political opponent from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, suggesting he did not want to fuel internal tensions within the Mahayuti alliance.
Background of the Allegations
Raju Shetti had earlier alleged that the sale of the Jain Boarding House land was part of a ₹3,000-crore scam, claiming it was sold for just ₹230 crore with political backing. Dhangekar echoed the allegations, calling Mohol a “land thief” and accusing him of misusing political power for builders’ benefit.
Both Shetti and Dhangekar have demanded a detailed investigation into the matter. Mohol, meanwhile, maintains that the accusations are baseless and driven by political motives.
