Pune : MSEDCL electricity bill payment of Rs 218 crores received through 'Mahapower-Pay'
Mainly in the semi-urban and rural areas, the payment wallet ‘Mahapower-Pay’ has received a good response in Western Maharashtra from the payment wallet of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), which makes it convenient to pay electricity bills and also provides financial income to small businessmen.
In the last year, as many as 25, 54,294 electricity consumers have paid a total bill of Rs 217 crore 46 lakh rupees.
As per information from MSEDCL, the MSEDCL has launched its own ‘Mahapower-Pay’ payment wallet to make it easier for consumers to pay electricity bills. Anyone above the age of 18 years as well as small businessmen, grocery, medical, general stores shopkeepers, self-help groups, students, electricity bill distribution agencies of MSEDCL and meter reading organizations can become wallet holders.
Ankush Nale, MSEDCL Pune Regional Director informed that this wallet can be used through mobile or computer and has the online facility of recharge by debit, credit card and net banking.
A commission of five rupees is being given to the wallet holder in return for paying the electricity bill. People who want to be ‘Mahapower-Pay’ wallet holders should contact the Divisional and Sub-Divisional Offices of MSEDCL.
In Pune Regional Division last year, 1,32,741 consumers paid electricity bills worth Rs 12 crore 39 lakhs through wallet in Pune district. 6,63,705 rupees was given as commission to 72 wallet holders concerned. In Kolhapur district 10, 95, 229 consumers paid electricity bills of Rs 92 crore 84 lakh through wallet. 54,76,145 rupees commission was given to 182 wallet holders concerned. In Sangli district, 1,01,583 customers paid Rs 8 crore 93 lakh through wallet.
A commission of 5,07,915 rupees was given as commission to the 33 wallet holders concerned. In Solapur district, 1,77,946 customers paid 18 crore 45 lakhs through wallets. A commission of 8,89,730 rupees was given to the 70 wallet holders concerned. Whereas in Satara district 10, 46, 795 consumers paid electricity bills of Rs 84 crore 85 lakh. 52, 33,975 rupees commission was given to 96 wallet holders concerned.
Applicants submitting required documents are verified and approved as ‘Mahapower-Pay’ wallet holders. After that, the electricity bill can be paid by MSEDCL customers. After the payment of the bill in the wallet, an ‘SMS’ is being given immediately on the registered mobile of the concerned customer. There is a facility to pay electricity bills from different customers through different log-ins using the balance of the same wallet. The accounting and commission of such recovery is credited to the main wallet at the end of the month.
