Pune: MSRTC Bus Diversion At Katraj Chowk Causes Chaos Among Commuters
Pune: The recent diversion of MSRTC buses away from Katraj Chowk to facilitate flyover construction has left commuters frustrated and inconvenienced. Over 100 buses that previously traveled through Katraj Chowk to Satara-Kolhapur highway are now being rerouted via Sinhagad Road, Navale Bridge, and other roads.
Commuters are forced to travel an additional 4km to Swargate to board state transport buses, adding to their travel time and woes. The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has deployed controllers at Navale Bridge Chowk, one of the diverted routes, but commuters claim that in the absence of a proper halt, they are unable to board buses at this junction.
Local residents are feeling the pinch, a resident on the condition of anonymity said that, “Traffic in Katraj has been severely affected due to the ongoing flyover work. Shifting MSRTC bus operations has added to our woes. We urge the authorities to complete the project work at the earliest to provide relief to local commuters.”
In response to commuter concerns, MSRTC officials claim they are working on plans to improve bus halts at Navale Bridge Chowk. “We have instructed drivers to halt at Navale Bridge Chowk. However, drivers from other bus depots are not yet fully aware of the changes. We have asked controllers to alert commuters as well,” an MSRTC official said.
The diversion is expected to remain in place for a few more days, causing continued inconvenience to commuters. Authorities are urged to expedite the completion of the flyover project to restore normal bus services and alleviate commuter woes.
