The Director General of Defence Estates (DGDE) in New Delhi is still deliberating over PMC’s proposal to widen a 2 km section of Mundhwa Road between ABC Farms and Tadigutta Chowk.

Since the land to be acquired for road widening falls under defense estates, the proposal was recently approved by the Pune Circle defense estates office and the principal director of defense estates of Southern Command before being forwarded to the DGDE office. The project is essential to lowering traffic in a number of areas, including Mundhwa, Magarpatta, Pune Cantonment, Koregaon Park, and Kalyaninagar.

According to a senior DEO official, the PMC, the Defence Estates Office, and the Local Military Authority (LMA) of Dakshin Maharashtra and Goa Sub Area have conducted a joint survey. PMC representatives displayed their markings and widening plan. Defense land classified as A-1 is needed for the project. The proposal has been approved and sent to the DGDE office for submission to the MoD for work authorization.

According to a senior PMC official, they require a minimum of 3 acres, of which more than 1 acre is needed for defense. Private entities own the land that is left. The 2-kilometer road has a limited carriage width. It will be widened by PMC from 18 to 30 meters.
