Pune Municipal Corporation Activates Disaster Management Teams Amidst MonsoonÂ
The Pune Municipal Corporation has swung into action to combat the challenges posed by the ongoing monsoon. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale has ordered disaster management teams to remain operational until the end of the monsoon season.
To ensure effective flood management, Dr. Bhosale has outlined key measures. Field office-level teams will stay operational throughout the monsoon, prioritizing cleaning garbage from rain gutter networks. The existing 50mm gutters will be upgraded to handle heavy rainfall, focusing on flood-prone areas, including riverside settlements.
Recent heavy rains caused widespread flooding, submerging roads and subways, and raising concerns over drainage issues and flood preparedness. In response, Dr. Bhosale assured that teams are equipped to handle monsoon-related disruptions.
A committee report on flooding in Sinhagad Road settlements has been submitted, but details have been withheld, citing heavy rains near Khadakwasla Dam. Residents are urged to report flooding and drainage issues to authorities.
The Municipal Corporation is committed to ensuring public safety during the monsoon. Citizens can contact the Disaster Management Cell for assistance.
