Pune Municipal Corporation Cracks Down On Illegal Constructions In Balewadi
In a significant action against unauthorized constructions, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) carried out a demolition drive in various areas of Balewadi on December 4, 2024. The operation targeted illegal tin sheds and brick constructions in key areas, including the Dasara Chowk area, Dockyard Hotel, Mitcon Chowk, Ashtavinayak Chowk, and Makhani Hotel vicinity.
Under the supervision of PMC’s Superintendent Engineer and the Executive Engineer from Zone 3, a team comprising Deputy Engineers, Junior Engineers, and other staff, supported by local police, executed the operation. The team utilized two JCBs, one gas cutter, and ten encroachment personnel to complete the action.
As a result of this drive, approximately 32,450 square feet of unauthorized construction was cleared. The initiative underscores PMC’s commitment to curbing illegal developments and maintaining urban order.
