Pune, January 12, 2026: Ahead of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Elections 2026, the Wanowrie Residents Forum has released a comprehensive Citizen Expectations Charter for Ward 18 Wanowrie Salunke Vihar, compiled through extensive feedback and peer consensus among residents. The document outlines priority civic issues and calls for accountable governance with visible, on-ground results, supported by elected corporators, legislators, and the PMC administration.
In the preamble, citizens of Wanowrie emphasize their right to a reasonable standard of living and quality of life. The forum has urged the PMC Commissioner and newly elected corporators to take time-bound, sustained action across key civic sectors, making performance accountability a measurable norm.
Key Citizen Expectations and Action Points
1. Clean and Hygienic Environment
* Daily street sweeping with publicly notified schedules and responsible sanitation staff details.
* Daily garbage clearance from roads and unauthorized dump sites, with twice-daily cleaning at identified hotspots.
* Door-to-door garbage collection across all housing types, including slums and low-income areas.
* Ward-level waste processing and treatment facilities to be made operational.
* Adequate litter bins on public streets with alternate-day cleaning.
* Public urinals and toilets at ward fringes and open areas, with outsourced maintenance.
* Strict enforcement of Open Defecation Free (ODF) norms.
* Quarterly public awareness campaigns and school outreach on cleanliness.
* Enforcement of penalties for littering, spitting, and illegal dumping.
* Long-term goal of declaring Wanowrie a certified “Swachh Neighbourhood”.
2. Safe and Equitable Water Supply
* Year-round potable water through a closed-loop piped system, preferably 24×7.

* Extension of pavements across the ward, including connectivity to Mohammedwadi.

The Wanowrie Residents Forum stated that this charter represents collective citizen will and expects it to be treated as a governance roadmap for Ward 18 in the upcoming PMC term.
