The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a deadline for citizens to settle their water bill arrears by March 31, 2024. Failure to do so will result in a 1% interest charge on outstanding amounts beginning April 1, 2024.

PMC has observed a significant increase in overdue water bill arrears, particularly among commercial and certain residential consumers within Pune Municipal Corporation limits. Additionally, consumers in Khadki Cantonment Board and Pune Cantonment Board areas are being billed based on water usage.

To address this issue, PMC will implement a 1% per month penal interest charge on overdue amounts as per Rule 41 of Chapter VIII, Taxation Rules of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act, 1949, if bills remain unpaid for 60 days from the date of issue.

Customers are urged to settle their dues by the end of March 2024 to avoid incurring additional charges. PMC has streamlined bill payment arrangements for customers supplied with water through meters. However, those who haven’t received their bills can obtain them from designated water supply departments and settle their outstanding amounts before March 31, 2024.
