Pune Municipal Corporation To Support Purchase Of Pink Rickshaws For Women’s Employment

60 Pink E-Rickshaws To Be Distributed To Pune Women On April 21
Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation has decided to provide financial assistance for purchasing pink rickshaws to offer employment opportunities to women in need. The state government recently launched the ‘Pink E-Rickshaw’ scheme, which will now be implemented by the municipal corporation.
The cost of an e-rickshaw is ₹3,73,000, out of which the beneficiary women will need to pay ₹37,300. The government will contribute ₹74,600. The loan for the rickshaw will carry an interest rate of 9.3% plus 2.75%, and the women will need to repay the loan in installments of ₹6,000 per month over five years. In addition, they will receive 20 free servicing sessions (one every three months) for five years.
The registration and insurance for these rickshaws will be provided free of charge through the insurance distributors. The women beneficiaries will also receive free training to drive the rickshaws and obtain the necessary driving licenses. The fare for these rickshaws will be determined by the regional transport office. Nitin Udas, Deputy Commissioner of the Social Development Department at Pune Municipal Corporation, confirmed that information about the scheme will be available at the municipal offices.
