Pune: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that no country can progress without military strength, emphasizing the government’s efforts to modernize armed forces in response to changing geopolitical conditions and warfare. Speaking at the “Gauravgatha” event held on Army Day at the Bombay Engineering Group in Khadki, he highlighted the importance of equipping the military with advanced weapons and empowering it for modern warfare.
Singh explained that as countries move from developing to developed stages, every segment of society must contribute. However, only when the security apparatus is strong and national borders are secure will this contribution be meaningful. He noted that India has always prioritized peace over war, showing the strength of peace through its military. Singh also mentioned the increasing participation of women in the armed forces, especially in difficult and remote areas.
As wars become more violent and uncertain, the Defence Minister stressed the need for the military to focus on capacity-building and improvements, with cyber and space sectors emerging as new battlefields. He also highlighted the significant rise in domestic defence production and exports over the past decade.
