Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate 10 new Vande Bharat trains on September 15, marking a major boost to India’s rail connectivity. The launch includes the country’s first-ever Vande Bharat sleeper train.
In a historic move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 10 new Vande Bharat Express trains on September 15 from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. This will be the first time that such a large number of Vande Bharat trains are launched simultaneously, significantly enhancing rail connectivity across India and offering improved travel options in various regions.
The most exciting addition is the country’s first semi-high-speed sleeper Vande Bharat train, set to be introduced within the next three months. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently revealed the first prototype of this sleeper train, which has been completed at the BEML factory in Bangalore. Images and videos of the sleek new train have been circulating on social media, creating a buzz among train enthusiasts and passengers alike.

Among the newly introduced routes, the Pune- Nagpur train stands out as a key development, connecting two of Maharashtra’s major cities. This high-speed service will offer a faster and more comfortable journey, reducing travel time significantly between Pune, an industrial hub, and Nagpur, the state’s second capital.
The sleeper Vande Bharat has been designed to cover distances of 800-1200 km, making it ideal for long-haul journeys. The fare structure will be similar to that of the Rajdhani Express, aiming to cater to middle-class passengers. The new train features improved balance and stability to minimize noise, while advanced coupler technology reduces weight and enhances strength. Train coaches, toilets, and safety features have all been upgraded to offer a better experience for passengers.
Amenities include USB charging ports at each seat, personal reading lights, modular pantries, and a display panel for easy navigation. CCTV cameras ensure onboard safety. First-class AC passengers will also enjoy luxury features like hot water showers. Additional upgrades include a redesigned upper berth ladder, more luggage space, and a dedicated berth for disabled passengers.
