Pune: Nancy Lake Home Project In Katraj Faces Probe Over Illegal Construction, Orders Inquiry Within 15 Days
Mumbai, October 30, 2025: Maharashtra Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde has directed the Divisional Commissioner of Pune to conduct a detailed on-site inspection of the Nancy Lake Home project at Survey No. 08, Katraj, and submit a comprehensive report within 15 days regarding alleged illegal construction and repeated plan revisions.
During a meeting held at the Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai on Tuesday, Prof. Shinde issued these instructions following complaints that the developer had carried out unauthorized construction in the project. The meeting was convened to review the allegations related to the Nancy Lake Home project.
Initial findings revealed that since 2004, the project has received nearly ten revised approvals. It was also observed that there had been changes made to Survey Nos. 08 and 09 in the village and measurement maps, raising suspicions of irregularities.
Questions were raised during the meeting about whether the actual construction exceeded the permitted non-agricultural land area. The Pune District Collector had reportedly granted approval for construction on 37,973.20 sq. m., but the project is suspected to have expanded over 60,630.59 sq. m. Officials also questioned the frequent modifications to the project layout and sought justification from concerned authorities.
As the explanations provided were found unsatisfactory, Prof. Shinde instructed the Divisional Commissioner to personally visit the site with officials from the Land Records Department and other related departments and to carry out a detailed investigation.
The meeting was attended by Legislative Secretariat Secretary (4) Shivdarshan Sathe, Deputy Secretary Mohan Kakad, Urban Development Department’s Under Secretary Priyanka Chhapwale, Executive Engineer (PMC) Ramesh Kakde, Deputy Engineer Rupali Dhage, Assistant Legal Officer Nilesh Badgujar, and City Survey Officer Balasaheb Bhosale.
