PUNE: Nayanta University, a new private institution in Pune, has received approval from the Maharashtra cabinet and is set to commence operations in the 2025-26 academic year. The university will offer undergraduate degrees in arts and sciences, along with a Master’s program in public policy. The first batch of students is expected to be admitted in August 2025.

Backed by prominent industrialists and academics, Nayanta University aims to integrate industry with academics, equipping students with a balanced understanding of both technology and the humanities. The institution’s curriculum will focus on producing well-rounded graduates with insights into both rural and urban India. A need-blind admission process will be implemented to ensure that no deserving student is denied access due to financial limitations.

Dr. Naushad Forbes, one of the university’s founders, thanked the Maharashtra government for its support and highlighted Nayanta’s commitment to being an inclusive and holistic educational institution. Dr. Ranjan Banerjee, Professor and CEO of Nayanta Education Foundation, announced a partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) to provide internships across corporate, government, and social sectors for all students, guaranteeing excellent placements for the inaugural batch.
