Pune: A swarm of bees attacked tourists at Shivneri Fort, leaving 50 to 60 people injured. The forest department is working to calm the aggressive bees, and visitors are advised to take precautions. Injured tourists are currently receiving medical treatment.

On Sunday, a large number of tourists had gathered at Shivneri Fort in Junnar. However, in the morning, near the Shivai Temple, a swarm of bees launched an attack after someone reportedly threw a stone at them. The sudden aggression caused chaos, with tourists, including children, running in panic.

Forest Department’s Efforts To Control The Situation

As soon as the incident was reported, ambulances arrived at the base of Shivneri Fort to provide medical assistance. Some tourists were trapped inside the Shivai Temple, while others struggled to descend from the fort. The forest department is making efforts to calm the bees and ensure the safety of those still at the site.

Following the incident, authorities have restricted entry to the fort for safety reasons. Visitors are urged to remain cautious, as the scorching summer heat often leads to an increase in bee activity. The forest department has advised tourists to stay alert, and efforts are underway to rescue those still inside the temple.

Junnar Rescue Team Santosh Kabadi, Rajkumar Chavan, and temple priest Sopan Durafe carried out rescue work alongwith forest officials.
