PUNE : In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s upcoming visit to Pune on Tuesday, Youth Congress members have put up posters with the message “Modi, Go Back” all over the city. The posters serve as a form of protest against the ongoing unrest in Manipur and have been strategically displayed in specific parts of Pune.

The posters carry powerful messages, with one stating, “Go Back Mr. Crime Minister,” and another demanding, “Mr. Prime Minister, go to Manipur and face the Parliament.”

As the opposition Youth Wing of the Congress Party raises its voice against the turmoil in Manipur, a senior police official confirmed that efforts are underway to coordinate with the Pune Municipal Corporation to remove these unauthorized posters.

Adding to the dissent, the Pune unit of the India Front, which comprises 26 opposing parties, has decided to join in the protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The protest stems from the perception that the Prime Minister has overlooked the ongoing turbulence in Manipur. On August 1, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Pune to receive the Lokmanya Tilak award and oversee various developmental initiatives.

A senior Congress leader highlighted that while the Prime Minister often finds time to travel abroad, he has not paid attention to Manipur, which has been engulfed in unrest for nearly three months. The lack of the Prime Minister’s engagement with the situation in Manipur has been criticized as insensitive, especially given that he has not addressed the matter in Parliament.

Throughout the ongoing Monsoon session of Parliament, Opposition parties, particularly the Congress, have been mounting pressure on the Prime Minister to address the issues in Manipur. The protest posters and dissenting voices aim to draw attention to the importance of addressing the unrest in the region and holding the government accountable for finding a resolution.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Pune on Tuesday to take part in a puja at the revered Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Mandir. The visit holds significance as he will also be bestowed with the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award during the occasion. The award, instituted by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust in 1983, serves as a tribute to the visionary leader Lokmanya Tilak and is given in recognition of remarkable and extraordinary contributions towards the progress and development of the nation.

In addition to the puja and award ceremony, Prime Minister Modi will also play a pivotal role in the initiation of various development projects during his visit to Pune. By laying the foundation stone for these projects, the Prime Minister will set the stage for their future implementation, promoting growth and progress in the region.
