Pune News: Fake Godman Arrested In Bavdhan For Spying On Devotees Using Hidden Mobile App, Forcing Obscene Acts

Pune, June 28, 2025: A fake godman who mentally and financially harassed devotees by secretly spying on their private lives through a hidden mobile app has been arrested by Bavdhan Police. The accused has been identified as Prasad alias Dada Bhimrao Tamdar, aged 29. Claiming to possess “divine powers,” he deceived several individuals.
The complaint was lodged at Bavdhan Police Station by Swapnil Shankar Parkhe (39), who stated that the accused gained trust by narrating his past and claiming spiritual enlightenment. He then coerced the complainant into performing various acts.
Tamdar allegedly installed a hidden app on the complainant’s mobile phone, gaining full access to it. He monitored the personal lives of the complainant and close associates. According to the FIR, Tamdar even forced the complainant into performing obscene acts, including visiting sex workers, all of which he watched through the app.
Financial Fraud:
The FIR further mentions that Tamdar extorted money under the guise of donations for his spiritual establishment. He took ₹15,000 from the complainant and similarly duped others. Legal action has been demanded against him.
Police Action:
Police confirmed that several others were also cheated by the accused. Bavdhan Police, under the Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate, arrested Tamdar. With the help of cyber experts, a thorough investigation of his mobile phone and the app used is underway. A digital forensic probe is being conducted to determine where the videos of the devotees were stored.
The police have urged the public to stay cautious of such fraudulent godmen, avoid blind faith, never share personal or mobile information with anyone, and report fraud without fear.
