Pune: A shocking incident of a fake tyre puncture scam has come to light in Pune, raising serious concerns among vehicle owners. A video captured on a car’s dash camera is going viral on social media, showing two men following a car and falsely warning the driver about low air pressure in the tyres.

However, thanks to the vehicle’s in-built Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), the driver quickly realized that the tire pressure was completely normal. This helped him avoid falling into the trap.

What Happened?

In the video, two individuals can be seen trying to signal a car driver, claiming that the car’s tyre had low air pressure. The men appeared to be urging the driver to stop, possibly to carry out a fake repair or scam. But the driver, alerted by the TPMS, did not stop and safely avoided the situation.

“Someone told me my tire had low pressure, just before a tyre shop at Shastri Chowk. But my TPMS showed everything was fine. That’s when I realized it was a scam,” the driver wrote while posting the video.

Advisory for Drivers

With such scams reportedly increasing across Pune, traffic authorities and fellow drivers are urging everyone to stay alert. Drivers are advised not to stop their vehicles if unknown individuals try to warn them about a tire issue, especially near tire shops or isolated areas.

Having TPMS or similar safety features in vehicles can help avoid such frauds.

Stay safe, Punekars. Stay alert. Don’t fall for roadside scams.
