In an extraordinary display of environmental commitment, the Green Sunrise Hills Foundation organized a mega tree plantation drive at Wagholi on July 16, 2023. This initiative marked the first tree planting event of the monsoon season, with 1000 native plants being successfully planted by dedicated volunteers.

The tree plantation drive received overwhelming support from various organizations, including the Maharashtra State Forest Department, BJS Wagholi, Keshnand Grampanchayat, and the Rotary Club of Pune Central. This collaborative effort was instrumental in ensuring the event’s success.

Enthusiasm filled the air as approximately 500 individuals from diverse backgrounds, including BJS Hostel students, residents of Wagholi and its surrounding areas, joined hands to make a positive impact. The event showcased the community’s commitment to environmental conservation and their eagerness to contribute to a greener future.

Chandrakant Naktode, the founder of the Green Sunrise Hills Foundation, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response and highlighted the remarkable transformation achieved through the collective efforts of the foundation’s volunteers and the local community. Over the course of seven years, what was once a barren forest hill has been rejuvenated into a thriving green forest, serving as a testament to the power of sustainable tree plantation.
