The Bombay High Court’s rejection of his pre-arrest bail plea has led to the arrest of a well-known Bollywood actor and fitness coach, Sahil Khan, known for his roles in movies like Style and Excuse Me.

The actor gained initial fame through a music video for Stereo Nation’s Nachange Sari Raat and later transitioned into a fitness expert, earning accolades for his contributions to fitness awareness in Mumbai.

Married to actress Negar Khan in 2003, the couple divorced in 2005. Recent social media posts with his girlfriend Milena suggest a new marital status, revealing that the actor officially tied the knot after their engagement in Russia.

The arrest stems from an FIR filed by social activist Prakash Bankar in November 2023, accusing the actor and several others of endorsing online betting applications. The complaint highlighted multiple web portals facilitating online betting on various sports and card games, including the actor-associated Khiladi Book.

Authorities are investigating alleged unlawful transactions between financial and real estate firms and backers of the Mahadev betting app, estimated at approximately ₹15,000 crore. The ongoing inquiry involves the actor and 31 others, with authorities scrutinizing their financial and technical devices.

Recent developments include the apprehension of two individuals in Chhattisgarh linked to the Mahadev app’s illicit activities by the Anti-Corruption Bureau/Economic Offence Wing. The Enforcement Directorate has also detained nine individuals in a separate investigation.

The FIR names former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and app promoters, alleging their involvement in facilitating live betting and gambling through various social media platforms. The accused reportedly earned substantial profits, with promoters retaining the majority of proceeds and transferring illegal funds to the UAE.

The investigation underscores the complexities of online betting networks and the challenges in combating illegal gambling activities facilitated through digital platforms. As authorities delve deeper into the matter, the implications of the case extend beyond the entertainment industry, shedding light on the pervasive nature of online betting and its potential ramifications on society.
