Pimpri-Chinchwad: The Cyber Police Station and Crime Branch Unit 2 of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate carried out a joint raid and action against two fake call centres involved in defrauding American citizens. A total of 23 individuals have been booked in the case.

Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey had received information about illegal call centres operating in the Hinjawadi area. Acting on these inputs, he directed teams from the Cyber Police Station and Crime Branch Unit 2 to verify the information and conduct raids accordingly.

Based on the commissioner’s instructions, Police Inspector Ravikiran Nale and his team from the Cyber Police Station, along with Arvind Pawar and his team from Crime Branch Unit 2, conducted a detailed investigation. Upon confirming the intelligence, they raided two illegal call centres in Hinjawadi Phase 2, Pune.

One of the raided call centres, named Sky High Solution, was found using computers and laptops equipped with software such as TeleCMI, Dialer, and Phound. Employees posing under fake identities contacted American citizens, falsely claiming to represent the US Medical Health Department. Through scripted conversations, they misled citizens by stating that long-term use of products like Roundup pesticide, Zantac tablets, and talcum powder could cause cancer, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and blood disorders.

The call centre collected detailed personal information from victims, which was then forwarded to US-based law firms claiming compensation on their behalf. The call centre allegedly received dollar payments from these law firms.

Another fraudulent operation involved callers pretending to represent “Community Choice Financial” and offering loans to US citizens. They obtained bank details, user IDs, and passwords through phishing links, later claiming the victims had poor credit scores and charging them in dollars or gift vouchers to “improve” their credit ratings.

During the raids, police seized 9 computers, 2 laptops, and multiple scripts used for conducting the fraud. The investigation confirmed the illegal nature of the operation.

Following this, the Cyber Police Station registered FIR against the owners of Sky High Solution Sagar Kumar Yadav (32), Hinjawadi Phase 2, Pune and Manager Anand Pankaj Sinha (29), Wagholi, Pune along with 7 staff members.

More details on the second call centre and remaining accused continue in the original note.
