Pune News: PMC Identifies 380 Designated Spots For Legal Temporary Advertisements
Pune, October 8, 2024 – In an effort to combat the growing problem of unauthorized advertising across the city, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced 380 approved locations where temporary advertisements such as banners, posters, and flags can be legally displayed. This move follows a 2022 state government directive aimed at controlling the widespread issue of visual pollution.
The PMC’s Sky Sign and License department issued a public advisory urging individuals and organizations to obtain proper permissions from regional offices before placing any advertisements. Unauthorized ads placed outside these designated zones will face strict penalties under the Maharashtra Property Defacement Act, 1995.
While the list of approved spots is now publicly available on the PMC website, there are concerns regarding a lack of detailed guidelines. The dimensions and fees associated with advertisements at these locations have not yet been clarified, leaving some confusion among officials and citizens.
For years, the city has struggled with unregulated banners and flex boards put up by political leaders, local groups, and event organizers, contributing to the defacement of public spaces. This new initiative aims to curb that trend and restore Pune’s visual appeal.
