Pune: In a shocking incident, a resident of Old Sangvi has lost a whopping Rs 1 crore in an online scam.
As per information the three accused identified as Akanksha, Ram Sharma, and Rudra Pratap Singh, pretended to be employees of a company Investment India, Jaipur. By contacting the complainant Ravindra Bhagat from the mobile numbers 80521 40219, 91185 08452, and 62623 23108, the accused assured Bhagat of handling his Demat account & initially, gave the complainant good returns for an investment. So, the accused gained the complete trust of the complainant.
Additionally, they lured the complainant into investing more money by saying that they have taken a franchise of a company called IT Bucks (U.S.) in the context of proprietary trading. The accused assured the complainant of 70% profit by repeatedly sending e-mails from an E-mail ID: [email protected] to gain the trust of the complainant. Hence, the complainant kept sending more money to the accused, expecting his 70% profit share.
However, when the complainant did not receive any profit/returns, he realized that he had been cheated. The complainant Bhagat lost Rs 99,92,000.
Hence, on Thursday Ravindra Bhagat lodged a complaint with Sangvi Police.
A case has been registered against the 3 accused under Sections 420, 406 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) & Section 66(D) of the IT Act. Further investigation into the case is going on.
