Pune News: Three Cop 24 Beat Marshals Suspended For Accepting ₹3,000 Bribe During Night Patrol In Pashan
Pune, April 22, 2025: Three beat marshals deployed under the recently launched Cop 24 initiative have been suspended for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹3,000 from a resident during a night patrol in the Pashan area. The incident occurred at Shivlila Society on the night of April 13, where construction work on the parking floor was underway late into the evening.
At approximately 11 PM on April 13, the three officers—Santosh Shinde, Pratik Trimbake, and Dinesh Ingale—arrived in a patrol vehicle and reportedly confronted a resident, citing complaints of noise disturbance from the ongoing work. The officers claimed they had received a complaint via Dial 112.
According to the society’s chairman, the officers then asked him to visit the Balewadi police outpost to “settle the matter.” During the conversation, one of the officers allegedly said, “We’ll manage it. You settle the matter quickly,” and demanded ₹5,000. The chairman stated that he paid ₹3,000 on the spot to avoid further trouble.
Taking suo moto cognizance of the incident, Pune City Police launched an internal investigation on Friday. The probe confirmed that the officers had indeed accepted ₹3,000 from the resident. Following the findings, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nikhil Pingale submitted a detailed report to senior authorities.
Based on the report, all three officers were immediately suspended pending further disciplinary action.
