Pune News: Traffic Island At Shivar Chowk Removed To Alleviate Congestion In Rahatani And Pimple SaudagarÂ
In an effort to tackle the persistent traffic jams at Shivar Chowk, a major junction in Rahatni and Pimple Saudagar, local authorities have removed the traffic island, which had been a significant cause of congestion. The junction, located on the Nashik Phata to Hinjewadi BRTS road, is a critical route for commuters in Ward No. 28.
Residents and housing society members had long complained about the frequent traffic snarls at Shivar Chowk, urging action to ease the situation.
Shivar Chowk, due to its strategic location on a heavily trafficked route, had become a hotspot for bottlenecks, leading to delays for both local commuters and those traveling between neighboring areas.
After recognizing that the traffic island was a major contributor to the congestion, authorities, in collaboration with the BRTS and traffic police, decided to remove it. The island was dismantled overnight by the teams to avoid disruption during peak commuting hours.
The removal of the traffic island is expected to improve traffic flow and reduce the delays that have long plagued the residents of Rahatani and Pimple Saudagar.
