Heavy traffic was observed on the Salunkhe Vihar road, Kondhwa on the night of April 18 (Thursday). Despite significant noise pollution caused due to vehicle horns, the traffic police officials were nowhere to be seen. Citizens took to social media to express their disappointment over ‘poor traffic planning’.

The comment section is filled with unsatisfactory opinions from the citizens to the authorities. A daily commuter also expressed how he was stuck at the site for about 2 hours.

“At this specific location in the video, there is no access to traffic control or surveillance. Additionally, owners of vehicles, particularly reckless two-wheelers who ride without helmets or safety gear, forbid or restrict the movement of four-wheelers. Two-wheelers parked on the road can cause havoc. This wasn’t the situation before Covid. Lack of effective local transport coupled with a lack of awareness or urban planning for changes to road infrastructure results in an increase in the density of automobiles on the road. During the day, traffic police are only available to pick up 4-wheelers in the vicinity, said a user named Udday D’Souza on Facebook.

Residents have also highlighted that the following roads in Wanawadi are always congested with traffic in the evening: Salunke Vihar Road, Girme Heights, Lonkar Udyan, ABC Farm Chowk, Step Inn Restaurant, and Constituent Chowk. While the drivers are facing challenges daily, it’s believed that nobody is paying any attention to this issue.
