In a shocking incident, six unidentified individuals severely attacked Anil Kumar Mishra, the Founder of Team Wagholi Against Corruption (WACO), and Sushil Deo Pandey, a Core Member of the Team WACO. The assault took place on July 12 at approximately 10 pm.

Anil Kumar Mishra, speaking to Pune Pulse, expressed his belief that the attack was a result of the fear and insecurity felt by certain politicians and influential figures who oppose the development of Wagholi. He stated, “Their actions demonstrate their apprehension about losing control over their respective areas. Although they have physically harmed us, they cannot break our spirit in developing Wagholi. Even if more attacks or incidents occur against me or other members of Team Wagholi Against Corruption, we will not be intimidated, as the entire Wagholi community stands united with us. We will tirelessly work day and night to ensure the complete development of Wagholi.”

According to Sushil Deo Pandey, he and Anil Kumar Mishra visited Gulmohar Park behind McDonalds for the purpose of creating awareness about road, drainage and water supply issue in Wagholi Pune to raise critical issues affecting Wagholi, such as water, drainage, and road development problems. While they were done speaking to the residents, on their way six drunken assailants, whose identities remain unknown, intercepted them, subjected them to severe verbal abuse, and physically assaulted them. The attackers even attempted to cause grievous harm. They questioned the duo’s right to discuss the development of Wagholi, criticizing their origins in Uttar Pradesh and threatening to impede their efforts. Furthermore, the assailants made death threats. Mishra and Pandey were held against their will for 40 minutes before managing to escape the assault.

Vishwajeet Kaingade, Senior Police Inspector at the Lonikand Police Station, confirmed that Sushil Deo Pandey and Anil Kumar Mishra have provided a detailed account of the incident and are planning to file an official complaint with the Lonikand Police Station. He assured that swift and stringent action would be taken against the attackers.
