Pune News: Urgent Appeal For Action Against Illegal Tree Cutting Near Ganga Kingston In NIBM Annexe Area
Pune – In a breach of the Tree Protection Act, fully grown trees outside Sufi Cafe, adjacent to Ganga Kingston, were illegally cut down. Local citizen activist Jaymala Dhankikar of NIBM Annexe Residents Forum has raised alarm over this violation, calling for immediate action against those responsible.
The unauthorized removal of these trees not only contravenes the Tree Protection Act of 1975 but also poses a significant threat to local biodiversity and contributes to increased pollution in the area.
Dhankikar has formally requested the registration of an FIR against the perpetrators, urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to identify and prosecute those involved. She has also called for the restoration of the area through the planting of new trees to replace those that were lost.
Dhankikar emphasizes the need for swift action to safeguard Pune’s green cover and prevent future violations. Local authorities are urged to respond promptly to this serious environmental issue, reaffirming their commitment to protecting the city’s natural resources.
