Pune, January 27, 2026: A parking-related argument in Pune’s Hinjawadi area escalated into violence after a towing operator allegedly assaulted a local resident with a helmet on Saturday evening. The incident occurred on the busy Wakad–Hinjawadi Road, prompting police action.

The complainant, Tejas Bhausaheb Aher (31), a Wakad resident originally from Nashik, approached the Hinjawadi Police Station stating that his two-wheeler was towed from a no-parking zone near Saundarya Garden – Kitchen & Bar around 6.45 pm. According to the complaint, Aher reached the spot shortly after and requested the release of his vehicle, expressing willingness to pay the penalty.

However, the situation reportedly deteriorated when the towing operator insisted that the fine be paid only at the depot. An argument followed, during which the operator allegedly abused Aher and his wife. Police say the accused then struck Aher on the head with a helmet, causing injuries. It is also alleged that the operator snatched the wife’s mobile phone while she was recording the incident and threw it onto the road.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case against Rushikesh Pawar (27) under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for causing hurt, provoking breach of peace and mischief. The accused is currently absconding, and efforts are underway to trace him. Further investigation is being led by Assistant Police Inspector Wangnekar.
