Pune: PCMC Fire Brigade Averts Major Mishap in Pimple Saudagar, Rescues 42 Students and Six Trapped Occupants
Pimpri, December 1, 2025: A major fire incident at Prime Square building on Kunal Icon Road, Pimple Saudagar, was brought under control this afternoon due to the prompt and coordinated efforts of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Fire Department. The team successfully rescued six individuals trapped inside the building, preventing what could have escalated into a far more serious situation.
BJP youth leader Sandeep Kate, along with his team, rushed to the location without delay. BJP City President Shatrughna Kate was also present. Upon receiving the alert, Sandeep Kate immediately contacted the Rahatani Fire Station and coordinated with officials to send a team to the site.
Being a local resident, he personally helped streamline the response and assisted in evacuating students to safety. Thanks to this prompt action, no injuries were reported.
Sandeep Kate said that timely help prevented a major tragedy and stressed the need for urgent electrical safety upgrades. He added that ensuring citizens’ safety will always remain a priority.
The fire broke out around 2.45 pm near a coaching academy on the fourth floor of the building and intensified within minutes. Thick smoke and high flames made entry into the premises extremely difficult. Despite the challenging conditions, fire personnel entered the structure and safely evacuated six people who were trapped on the floor.

A total of 42 students were present at a nearby coaching academy at the time of the incident. Timely alert by local residents and quick response from the Fire Department ensured their safety and helped avert a major disaster in the densely populated locality.
Senior fire officers Rishikant Chipade, Vinayak Nale, Gautam Ingwale, Acting Sub-Officer Rupesh Jadhav, Mayur Kumbhar, and team members including driver Vishal Banekar, Dattatray Rokade, Maruti Gujar, and firefighter Sneha Jagtap were among those who participated in the operation.
The Fire Department has appealed to citizens to immediately dial the emergency number 101 in case of any fire-related incident to ensure rapid response and effective control.
