Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken a major step toward resolving traffic congestion on the Katraj-Kondhwa Road by approving ₹75 crore for land acquisition required for road widening. The decision was made during the standing committee meeting held on Tuesday.

With this latest approval, a total of ₹215 crore has now been allocated for land acquisition. Out of this, ₹130 crore has already been deposited by PMC with the District Collector’s office.

Additionally, the state government had earlier sanctioned ₹140 crore for the project, but due to delays from the Land Records and Survey Department, only ₹9.57 crore has been utilized so far.

Considering the importance of the project, Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram has prioritized the widening of this crucial road. In some areas, road work has already begun, including the construction of a grade separator. In locations where landowners have handed over their plots, road construction is in progress. In other areas, land acquisition has been done using the Transferable Development Rights (TDR) mechanism.
