Pune, April 17, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated steps to improve its financial health by forming a joint committee tasked with enhancing revenue collection and ensuring the successful implementation of its ₹15,669 crore budget for the 2026–27 financial year.

The decision follows the approval of the civic body’s annual budget by the general body. To meet the projected income targets, the standing committee has proposed a collaborative panel comprising both elected representatives and senior administrative officials.

According to Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhiamale, the panel will include selected members from the standing committee, along with key officials from the administration. These will include the Municipal Commissioner, Additional Commissioners, the Chief Accounts and Finance Officer, and heads of relevant departments.

The committee will focus on improving the efficiency of tax collection, recovering outstanding dues, and exploring new avenues for revenue generation. It will also review existing financial strategies to ensure better fiscal management.

Through this initiative, the PMC aims to reinforce financial discipline and bridge gaps in revenue, thereby ensuring that its ambitious budgetary goals for the upcoming financial year are achieved.
