Pune, December 2, 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will determine a new structure for hoarding charges within the next 15 days after the state government cancelled the civic body’s 2022 decision to increase advertising fees. Following the order, PMC has reverted to the earlier approved rate of ₹111 and paused the issuance of new hoarding permits until the revised tariff is finalised.
The administration is currently reviewing hoarding rates implemented in other major cities. A fresh proposal will be drafted and presented before the standing committee and the general body for approval. “The new rates will come into effect once the necessary clearances are obtained,” he said.
The cancellation of the 2022 resolution has slowed down the approval process. Officials noted that the swift decision-making that followed the delegation of powers to zonal commissioners has now reduced significantly.
Illegal Hoarding Drive Loses Pace
PMC’s recent survey recorded around 2,600 authorised hoardings and an estimated 1,000–1,500 illegal structures, particularly concentrated in Yerawada and along Ahmednagar Road. Despite the large number of violations, action has weakened over the past month.
Out of 15 ward offices, 12 granted approvals for 197 new hoardings, while action was taken against only 14 illegal ones. Ward offices in Bibvewadi, Hadapsar, and Bhavani Peth have not submitted their permit reports for more than a week. The municipal commissioner has instructed officials to take disciplinary action against sky-sign inspectors for failing to check unauthorised installations, sources said.
