With Pune City developing to enhance its public transportation system with a significant investment, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Vikram Kumar revealed plans to procure 500 new buses for Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) in the upcoming financial year 2024-25. This fleet will consist of 100 electric buses and 400 CNG vehicles to improve the city’s transportation network.

The transportation utility intends to leverage its existing properties by renting them out, aiming to generate non-ticket revenue.  These initiatives introduced in the civic budget proposal of 2024-25 show Pune City’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure for its residents.
