The Anti-cupportion Bureau (ACB) has taken action against corruption in Pune by arresting a government official, Malti Ramesh Kathale (43) who is currently working at the State GST Government Office. Kathale was caught accepting a bribe of Rs. 3000 in exchange for issuing a Goods and Services Tax (GST) number.

Following a complaint, ACB officers set a trap and caught Kathale red-handed while receiving the bribe money.

Following this, an FIR has been filed against Kathale under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Amol Tambe, the Superintendent of Police at ACB Pune, urged the citizens to report any government employee demanding bribes in exchange for any work getting done.

Ashalata Kapre, Police Inspector Crime, Yerwada Police Station said, “Kathale was caught receiving a bribe from a lady. We have registered a complaint against this issue and the necessary actions will be taken by his department and Anti-cupportion Bureau.”

According to Bhushan, an official from the Anti-cupportion Bureau, “A press note will soon be released regarding the same by Yerwada Police Station.”
