The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) conducted an eviction drive on Monday, December 23, to address persistent traffic congestion near Navale Bridge. The operation, which began around 7 a.m., resulted in the demolition of 25 unauthorized tin sheds that had been illegally constructed. PMRDA officials urged residents and business owners to refrain from erecting unauthorized structures to ensure smooth traffic flow.

This action is part of an ongoing effort by PMRDA’s Unauthorized Construction Eradication Department to identify and remove illegal structures. The demolished sheds belonged to individuals including Dilip Navale, Vaishali Dangat, Sarang Navale, Atul Chakanekar, and Vikas  Dangat.  

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase and Police Superintendent & Vigilance Officer Amol Tambe. Key officials involved included Joint Commissioner Dr. Deepti Suryavanshi-Patil, Deputy District Officer Pramod Kudale, Tehsildar Sachin Mhaske, and others, along with police personnel and fire department staff.

“A comprehensive survey of unauthorized hoardings and structures within PMRDA jurisdiction is underway. Officials have appealed to property owners to ensure all constructions are permitted and to immediately halt ongoing unauthorized activities. Dr. Yogesh Mhase expressed confidence that this action would significantly alleviate traffic congestion near Navale Bridge, bringing relief to commuters,”  informed Dr Dnyaneshwar Bhale, Public Relations Officer, PMRDA.
