The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has wrapped up work on an alternate road at Agriculture College to ease traffic congestion on Ganesh Khind Road. Originally set to open by March’s end, delays pushed the completion, but it’s now nearly ready. However, it won’t open until after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on April 29 to SP College. PM Modi’s visit near Pune University’s Raj Bhavan necessitates careful planning, including traffic management.

A traffic police source revealed that the road’s opening will coincide with a notification diverting traffic from Ganesh Khind Road. This move aims to minimize disruption during PM Modi’s rally for Lok Sabha candidates of Mahayuti in Pune, Baramati, and Shirur.

Commuters traveling from Shivajinagar to Aundh or Hinjewadi will follow a diversion plan. They’ll take the path from Agriculture College’s Wakdewadi gate to the Range Hill metro depot, near the Pune Metro line, leading to the Range Hills’ underpass.

This route adjustment aims to alleviate traffic congestion for those heading to Range Hills, Bopodi, and Khadki.
The completion of the alternate road offers hope for smoother commutes, especially as the city braces for major events like PM Modi’s visit. Once the diversion plan is in effect, commuters can expect improved traffic flow in these key areas.
