Pune Police Crush Modified Silencers in Kharadi, Action Against 45 Bullet Riders For Loud Explosive Noise
Pune, February 24, 2026:
In a strong action against illegal vehicle modifications and noise pollution, Pune Police conducted a special crackdown in the Kharadi area, targeting motorcycle riders—especially Royal Enfield Bullet riders—using modified silencers that produce loud, explosive “cracker-like” sounds.
Following repeated complaints from local residents about severe noise disturbance and violation of motor vehicle laws, teams from Kharadi Police Station
launched a focused operation under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Chavan.
During patrols and special trap operations, the police seized 45 Bullet motorcycles and other two-wheelers fitted with illegally modified silencers. Legal action was taken against the riders under the Motor Vehicles Act. The modified silencers were removed, and original company-fitted silencers were reinstalled on the vehicles.
In a symbolic and deterrent action, the seized modified silencers were destroyed using a bulldozer, sending a strong message against illegal modifications and reckless riding behavior that causes public nuisance.
Senior officials including Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 7) Somay Munde, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kharadi Division) Pranjali Sonawane, and Senior Inspector Sanjay Chavan supervised and guided the operation.
The operation was carried out by PSI Rahul Kolpe along with police personnel Mahesh Nanekar, Navnath Walke, Sachin Patil, Sahebrao Gundale, Santosh Lavte, Vilas Kedari, Ashok Kedar, Shrikant Kodre, and Suraj Jadhav.
Police have appealed to citizens that if any motorcycle riders are found creating loud, explosive noises using modified silencers in the Kharadi area, residents should immediately contact Kharadi Police Station so that strict legal action can be taken.
