Pune Police Seize 6,900 Sedative Pills; Two Arrested For Selling Drugs Across Kondhwa, Camp And Other Areas
Pune, December 2, 2025: The Khadak Police have arrested two individuals for illegally selling psychotropic (sedative) tablets used for intoxication. A total of 6,900 tablets were seized during the operation conducted on Monday at Jedhe Chowk in Swargate.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Sameer Hamid Shaikh (40) and Sunil Gajanan Sharma (34), both residents of Kondhwa. Police said Shaikh already has a cheating case registered against him.
Police Constable Ashish Chavan received information that two men involved in supplying these tablets would be travelling on a two-wheeler. Acting on this tip-off, a team led by Police Inspector Manojkumar Londhe laid a trap and intercepted the vehicle. A search of the scooter’s storage compartment revealed multiple packets of tablets.
Further interrogation led the police to a house in Kondhwa, where a larger stock was discovered. The seized tablets included Nitrazepam, Nitzasen-10, Alprazolam 0.5, Nitrafast, and other controlled substances. According to police, the duo was selling these tablets without a doctor’s prescription or legal permission.
The illegal distribution network reportedly targeted areas such as Kondhwa, Kashewadi, Hadapsar, Camp, and Yerwada, where the tablets were being sold for substance abuse.
A case has been registered at Khadak Police Station. A court has remanded both accused to police custody until
December 2. The investigation is being carried out under the supervision of Assistant Police Inspector Arjun Kudale.
