Pune Police to Destroy Seized Narcotics Worth ₹7.76 Crore in Ranjangaon Facility
Pune, March 25, 2025: The Anti-Narcotics Squad-1 of the Pune Crime Branch has initiated the process of destroying seized narcotic substances worth approximately ₹7,76,01,236. The contraband includes ganja, MD, ephedrine, cocaine, LSD, charas, opium, poppy straw, heroin, and ganja-mixed pills, collectively weighing 788.954 kg.
The narcotics, seized from 57 NDPS cases across nine police stations under the Pune Police Commissionerate, will be incinerated at Maharashtra Enviro Power Ltd., Plot No. P-56, Ranjangaon MIDC, Taluka Shirur, Pune, under the supervision of the Drug Disposal Committee.

Supervised and Transparent Process
Before destruction, the seized drugs will be weighed and inspected under the guidance of:
- Commissioner of Police, Pune: Mr. Amitesh Kumar
- Joint Commissioner of Police, Pune: Mr. Ranjankumar Sharma
A formal inspection and verification process will take place at the Recreation Hall, Police Headquarters, Shivajinagar, Pune, in the presence of the Drug Disposal Committee, comprising:
- Chairperson: Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), Pune – Mr. Shailesh Balkawade
- Member: Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), Pune – Mr. Nikhil Pingle
- Member: Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters), Pune – Mr. Sandeep Bhajibhakare
To ensure transparency, an Assistant Chemical Analyzer from the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, Pune, officers from the State Excise Department, and officials from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, Pune, will oversee the process. A government-appointed photographer/videographer will also document the destruction.
