Pune, August 4, 2025: In a significant development for residents of Kad Nagar in Mohamadwadi and Undri, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has finally taken action to address a long-standing safety issue by floating a tender for the removal of high-tension poles obstructing traffic movement at Kad Nagar Chowk and Tarawade Wasti.
Pune Pulse has been raising the issue with the Pune Municipal Corporation since 2023, consecutively for the last 2 years.
The tender, amounting to ₹1.42 crore, was issued last week and aims to eliminate the dangerous electric poles that have remained at the center of the widened road for nearly two years. These high-tension poles posed a serious risk to commuters, having caused several accidents due to their positioning in the middle of the road.
Despite repeated requests and complaints from local residents and civic activists, the issue had remained unresolved until now. Pune Pulse has consistently highlighted the dangers posed by these poles, urging the authorities to take immediate action for the safety of the public.
Local residents welcomed the move with relief and optimism. The removal of these poles is expected to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce the risk of accidents in the area. According to PMC officials, once the tendering process is completed, the work order is expected to be issued within a month, paving the way for the poles’ removal.
Residents and citizen groups expressed their thanks to PMC for finally responding to their concerns and taking concrete steps to resolve the matter. The move also signals progress in addressing key infrastructure issues in fast-growing suburbs like Mohamadwadi. With the tender now in place, residents hope the work will begin without delay and restore safer commuting conditions in Kad Nagar and surrounding localities.
