Pune, November 28: To facilitate contributions to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, the District Soldiers’ Welfare Office has introduced a QR code system, encouraging citizens to donate with ease.

The fund supports various welfare schemes for soldiers and their families, including those who were martyred or disabled in combat or counter-terrorism operations. These initiatives, carried out by the state government, rely heavily on the funds collected through the Flag Day contributions.

The collection efforts are overseen by district collectors and managed through the District Soldiers’ Welfare Office. Donations to the Flag Day Fund are eligible for tax exemptions under Section 80G (5) (6) of the Income Tax Act, 1961, informed Retired Lieutenant Colonel S. D. Hange, District Soldiers’ Welfare Officer.

This initiative aims to encourage more individuals to support the welfare of armed forces personnel and their families.
