As the vibrant Ganesh festival brings joy and devotion to households across Maharashtra, one Pune resident is taking the celebrations to new heights with a creative and unique approach. Kaustubh Ponkshe, a 46-year-old cybersecurity professional from Maharshi Nagar near Swargate, has combined his passion for scale model trains with the festive spirit to create something truly remarkable.

This year, Ponkshe, along with his wife and close friend Nachiket Sant, designed a replica of a Pune metro station as part of their Ganpati decoration. The intricate display featured miniature trains, tiny commuters, and detailed station designs, capturing the hustle and bustle of Pune city. The lively setup not only showcased their artistic talent but also honored the city’s rapidly growing metro network, bringing a local touch to the celebrations.

In an interview, Kaustubh shared that this was his second year of creating elaborate Ganesh decorations. Last year, he had charmed his family and friends with a “Modak Train,” a unique creation that served modaks (sweet dumplings) to Lord Ganesh.

For Ponkshe, Ganesh Chaturthi is not just a festival but an opportunity to bring his passions to life and inspire those around him. His innovative decorations have become a highlight in the neighborhood, drawing admiration from the community. His dedication to blending tradition with creativity has turned the annual celebration into a heartwarming tradition of togetherness, love, and artistic expression.
