Pune, July 9, 2025: An action plan will soon be prepared to address the growing traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, assured Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Dada Bhuse in the state legislature. A review meeting involving municipal corporations, MIDC, PMRDA, and National Highways officials will be held before the monsoon session ends. The state government, under the guidance of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, will adopt a proactive approach to resolve key roadblocks like land acquisition.

To fast-track major projects such as the Pune Ring Road and the Nashik Phata to Khed Elevated Corridor, a time-bound strategy will be developed, said Bhuse.

During a legislative session, MLAs Rahul Kul and Mahesh Landge raised attention on the worsening traffic issues. Kul pointed out that while the Mahayuti government approved critical projects like Hadapsar-Yavat, Pune-Shirur roads, and the Pune Ring Road, there needs to be a robust coordination mechanism to ensure these projects are completed within deadlines. He suggested monthly review meetings to update local representatives on progress.

Landge stressed the urgency of expanding infrastructure to support Pune’s rapid growth as an IT and industrial hub. He cited that over 1 lakh new vehicles are expected on Pimpri-Chinchwad roads in the next year, further worsening congestion. He also highlighted delays in projects like the Pune-Bengaluru highway upgrades and the Hinjawadi IT hub access roads due to land acquisition challenges.

The legislators demanded integrated authority to coordinate between farmers, district officials, and government agencies to resolve compensation disputes and ensure timely land acquisition.

Minister’s Response:

“Before the session ends, we will hold meetings with all stakeholders to address bottlenecks in projects like the Pune Ring Road, Pune-Bengaluru Highway, and Pune-Nashik Highway. Land acquisition is being done in consultation with farmers, and the government is determined to deliver these projects on time. The Pune Ring Road, divided into nine packages, is already under construction and targeted for completion within three years,” said Minister Dada Bhuse.
